According to user complaints, WhatsApp is down, with problems connecting to the messaging platform and the inability to send messages despite being connected.
Users have been reporting that they can no longer connect to WhatsApp’s servers since about an hour ago, with the app displaying a constant “Connecting…” message.
Others have reported that even though their app is still linked to the messaging platform’s servers, they are no longer able to send messages.

Thousands of user reports began streaming in at 4:15 p.m. EST, with affected WhatsApp users reporting the same issues throughout Europe, North and South America, and Asia, according to outage tracker DownDetector.

The company has posted a statement on Twitter apologizing for the downtime and stating that its engineers are working to resolve the difficulties.
“You may be having some troubles using WhatsApp right now,” WhatsApp said in a tweet earlier today.
“We’re aware of the situation and are working to restore normalcy. We’ll keep you updated, and we appreciate your patience in the meanwhile.”
Following a BGP routing issue in early October, WhatsApp, along with Facebook and Instagram, experienced a five-hour global outage.
Facebook later acknowledged that the outage was caused by erroneous configuration changes made to certain of its backbone routers, which resulted in the complete shutdown of all services.
