A seller’s Twitter profile page will be updated with direct links to the items they have for sale, thanks to a partnership between Shopify and Twitter on this integration. Installing the new Twitter add-on allows Shopify users to connect their Twitter accounts with the platform and begin setting up a store using the Shop Module on Twitter.
With the new add-on, a merchant’s Shopify products are immediately loaded onto Twitter and displayed in a carousel on their Twitter profile. Users can scroll around the carousel or enlarge it to see up to 50 products; choosing a product takes users to the retailer’s website for payment.
Shop owners can sync the product inventory on Shopify with Twitter by using the Twitter add-on. As a result, retailers shouldn’t need to update every item individually when making changes to the information about their products or when stock levels fluctuate.
Along with the cooperation with Shopify, Twitter also said that it is extending the beta of its Twitter Shops and Shop Spotlight capabilities, which enable retailers to highlight their merchandise on their profiles, to all US-based firms. The functionalities were previously restricted to a few merchants.
Although Twitter and Shopify collaborated on “purchase now” buttons that appeared within tweets in 2015, the feature was discontinued by Twitter in 2017. However, a Shopify integration begins to make more sense as Twitter actively rolls out dedicated tools for businesses and under a new owner who wants to find non-advertising-based revenue.
Twitter launched a new tool for iOS earlier this month that enables retailers to tease forthcoming products with reminders before they go on sale. Twitter is also experimenting with live shopping functionality, just like Amazon, eBay, Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
